I may be having one of my "thick" days, but I don't understand the weight part of your question.

I usually place bouncers and floaters to the side(s) of my pattern.

There are a couple of ideas on this thread, which is pinned at the top of Pigeon Shooting Tips, http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/153348-setting-a-pigeon-decoy-pattern/

Once you have mounted your dead bird on the end, push the rod into the ground at about a 45 degree angle , then watch how it moves in the wind, if it rises too high just lower the angle, if it hangs too low or hits the ground move it up until you have a nice rise and fall on the wind, the only weight you need is the dead bird, if you use a plastic decoy it may be lighter and will not react the same in the wind, I make my own rods and always have at least two out , they can be very good on the right day. good luck, trial and error is the only way. :good::good:

it suggests on the site where i bought it that if i use the plastic decoy it mentions hanging a weight to the wings via fishing line and a spring supplied with the bouncer which makes the wings flap in the wind, never having one before i can only go on their suggestions. please put me right if i am being misguided
