-Mongrel-
For various reasons I decide not to rejoin my local fowling club and as such I am unlikely to go 'fowling this season. But I'll tell you what, I'm wavering now! Season start's close and I keep looking out of the window and checking forecasts!!! Can I do this cold turkey (goose)? Only time will tell!!! wildfowler.250
Join up. If you go once or twice then it doesn't matter. Always nice to have the option even if you don't go.
silver pigeon 3
Of if you only want a couple of trips this season get a copy of the BASC wildfowling permit book and have a look at some new places.

If I went twice that'd be about £125 a session, that's expensive shooting in my book!

Just looked where you are and to come to the Wash the fuel cost would be prohibitive as its three and a half hours drive each way. You would have to stay for the week I spoke to a chap in August checking out marshes from Essex who had joined a wash club and he was looking forward to it and had looking at a travel lodge when he comes up. -Mongrel-
Yeah, my regular shooting buddy has rejoined Fenland this year and tends to do the Friday eve flight, 2 flights(sometimes 3) on Saturday and the morning on the Sunday before heading back down. He didn't rejoin locally and that was the swaying factor in my decision this year with cost. I don't mind shooting alone and indeed quite like it on occasion, but also enjoy the craic and a couple of pints after an evening flight. Cant you get a weekend "pass" share the petrol one weekend and see if you could do it next season, just a thought as the club fees would be a lot less than what you were paying.
