I think this has been on the cards for a while.

As Charlie T has said, it's a fungal infection rather than an actual "worm". Correct name is Tryctophyton Verrocusom I think. Don't let him share bath/hand towels, sponges, flannels etc or this may help it spread - or let him sleep in parents bed! Keep it covered & use Sudocrem or Antiseptic Cream, a chemist should have a more specific cream,normally clears up in a week or so.
