rimfire4969
With the start of the season fast approaching does anyone up the training of their dogs. I do a bit of training and field work throughout the summer to try and keep mine sharp along with pigeon shooting. But to go back in the beating line is completely different. Does anyone have a plan of what they do or just go back to basics to make sure they are still ok for the seasons work.
WGD
It's always direction and straight lines back that seem to suffer here so that gets a serious polish for a few weeks. Then we go picking up and it all goes out the window anyway! Lol. Yes I do ramp up training on the lead up to the season.
kent
I just ramped mine down, with the exception of some long swims and trying to stop him switching from left heel to sitting in front looking at me for command when I raised a gun ( I actually think this was created in gun less summer training- look directly up at me and getting sent / rewarded ) . Normally yes but depends on what you see in your dog.
al4x
Dogging in as much as you can is a big help before beating. We're doing a fair amount and it gets the steadiness back up to scratch
