Bunibuster
Bought a flapper at a show this weekend iv never used on before and I'm planning on trying it out this evening providing I get a pigeon! Has anyone any advice/tips on using it effectively il b shooting over standing barley with harvested potatoe field beside it thinking I might set up a few shell deeks on d spuds n maybe a few floaters on the barley thanks in advance Bunibuster
malkiserow
use an intermittent timer break its wings or you might break your machine!
poacher13
I seem to have best results locating it on the leading edge of my pattern ! and don't forget to charge the battery the night before!
brettguise
Use it on the edge of the pattern so as not to scare the birds into landing in your pattern.
Bunibuster
Thanks for the tips tried it out using ur advice wasn't as good as I thought only managed 3 pigeons and 3 crows and that was when I turned it off!! A few came close but flared off before they got within range I had the deeks out in a random u pattern with the flapper nearest the hide so I don't kno wot was wrong? Anyone got any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? Edited September 4, 2013 by Bunibuster
Dbw1shrops
Did you get the random timer with it ? If its flapping constantly this won't look natural to the incoming birds and will result in them flaring before there within shooting distance !? Bunibuster
Yeah I got one with it there's about 10-15sec delay between flaps? Heard about remote controls anyone tried them or know where to get them?

Everything has its day mate, you were shooting standing crop and fresh spuds so a massive day was probably not over likely given the amount of stubbles. Struggled on 11 hours today for 9 birds on rape stubbles that was battered in em last night. Tried everything 2 flappers, whirly, more deeks, less etc etc. and there's no wonder product that will give you huge bags time after times. Keep bashing away and keep trying it, look at your pattern give it some thought as to we're you think it would work and give it a blast. motty
Yeah I got one with it there's about 10-15sec delay between flaps? Heard about remote controls anyone tried them or know where to get them? I think remote controls are a waste of time. Your random timer will be fine. It sounds like on the day you had, you weren't where the pigeons wanted to be. Did you get the random timer with it ? If its flapping constantly this won't look natural to the incoming birds and will result in them flaring before there within shooting distance !? It should still work if flapping constantly. Pigeon magnets don't really look natural and they work ok.
