Mr pigeon
Hi guys, Just wondering if any of you have a drive on your shoot that has both pheasants and ducks? If you do how do you drive it, ie not to slaughter the ducks and give them time to land again! Do you do the ducks separate, ( but then would they go again if you do pheasants later in the day?) Our pheasant pen is by a lake so can't help but put ducks off. Confused! Cheers in advance!!! Ideas???
TIDES EDGE
All you can do is decide how many how many duck you want shot divide it by the number of guns and give each gun that number as a limit and hope they abide by it

Ferretboy111
Have 5 drives with both partridge, mallard and pheasants in. Find partridges and some duck go first, then pheasants. Because my ponds are only 3-500 yards apart they fly from one and land on another so no worries about constant spinning of ducks flying around the pond. Kes
Key may be in beating - can you walk the pheasants to more distant cover and drive that later/before? If you dont you'll get mixed shot used and thats a no-no and you would be responsible so definitely shoot them separate drives.

Mr pigeon
I think I could put the ducks up first, without to much hassle to the pheasants. But with only one lake do I say to the guns only shoot one each? How would ducks land? Do I blow a whistle to halt duck shooting? Any thoughts? Cheers! Kes
Assume a ratio of 3 shots to 1 kill and blow when you have reached whatever number you have in mind to give you the number of outings you want. Some guns will get more some will get none but its the fairest way. if you have 200 ducks, blow after 60 shots - should equal about 20 birds down. Dont forget - it must be non-toxic shot !
