You could try a motorcycle exhaust / manifold high tem black paint a friend of mine did his barrels the other week and they still look good and the finish is very durable indeed, he is now debating whether its worth blueing properly. Its just in an Aerosol spray can stuff looks the mutts if you take your time. The paint he used is now banned in the UK but still available in USA.

Am sure some other motorcycle fanatics on here can tell you more about this stuff?

Hi Shaun I used a product called dura coat on my 870 wingmaster it still looks mint :)

Search for it on here as I started a topic on it a while back

Dura Coat is the way to go - other brands are available.

These products are purpose made for durability and adhesion to all manner of substrates.

Get a kit and have a go - remember preparation is paramount.

Cerakote is a more durable coating, do a youtube search to find more video's on applying it.

Riflecraft stock it over here in the UK & also paint guns with it for a price, but they will sell it to you in the colour of your choice, for you to paint yourself, im doing up an old 870 at present with a magpul stock set & a ceracote finish.

I have about 4 different Duracoat kits - just need the time to get a space cleared on the bench & then the 870 will be wearing the Duracoat skin of the same name "Re, 870 black"

Hope to get this done next week as during a visit to a mates workshop last week I noticed a nice sand blasting booth that I can have access to, so all the areas that will be getting Duracoated will be getting some prep time in the booth first
