Cranfield
Are you looking for a dual purpose shotgun, clays and field ? I haven,t bought a gun for some years, but the shooting magazines seem to be full of good value guns, both new and secondhand. My local gunshop owner is always prepared to "discuss" the price of his guns. Your local shop is always a good first place to try.
neil
For that money i suppose you are looking at a Franchie, lanber or similar if you want brand new, second hand perhaps Browning 3/425 or equivalant Miroku (there the same gun) or Beretta 686/7 or 682.I know my local shop had a 686 sporter in a couple of weeks back for 650 which had seen a bit of use but was still a really nice gun. Its always best to try as many as possable before you make your mind up.
One shot wonder
I got a lanber deluxe sporter o/u with multi chokes for around £550 from avalon guns and so far i have had no trouble with it i use it for pigeon, rabbit and clays i find it to be a very strong robust gun. Game bore
Go Beretta or Browning (Miroku), Berettas have chromium plated tubes, less prone to corrosion than Brownings, they also have a much slimmer action. Get a 28" for a good allround sporter with multi chokes. Also every gunsmith can service them and spares are readily available if the unthinkable happens.
