steve_b_wales
While on holiday last week in Sharm El Sheikh, there was a bird of prey who landed on the gardens in front of our balcony, every day. It always seemed to land after the grass had been watered, and on a few occasions, I could see it carrying something, which I believe were small lizards, back to the roof top to eat them. I took a few photo's when I had chance, but just as I was packing my suitcase to leave for home, it decided to land on the small roof just below our room. I only had a small digital camera handy but managed to get a few photo's of it. I'm not sure what bird it is, possibly a Sparrow Hawk? Although, I never saw it swooping down on any of the small birds that were on the grass.

steve_b_wales
That is a nice kestrel My first thoughts were that it was a Kestrel, but it is a lot bigger than our native ones.

Twistedsanity
I was in sharm a few years back and have piccys of the same type of bird, I wondered if it was something the hotel owners let loose to keep the vermin away ? steve_b_wales
A closer look at this bird. It landed in the gardens which were approx 60 yards from our balcony.
Full Pelt
Nice kestrel. The 'Lesser Kestrel' also occurs there, they have particular light coloured talons, difficult to spot !

Two years ago while out there, there was a Peregrine Falcon that had made it's nest high on a reception mast near the hotel.
