Daveo26
Intercooler pipes, if they split they can whistle, or the intercooler itself Unless its noisy bearings in the turbo?
landy george
Don't think it'll be the bearings in the turbo as there are no bearings on the turbo, there bushes. Sideward movement is ok but endward movement is not good. I'd check pipes & the waste gate opens to start with. There very basic so can't be to much to go wrong. shotgun..willy
may sound like a daft question landy George but how should I check the wastgate
landy george
The wastegate is the flap that releases the pressure off the turbo. When you look at the turbo there's an arm from the actuator to the wastegate, put a spanner on the arm & just open the gate. It's sprung loaded & will only go one way. I had mine jam open & the turbo couldn't spool up(rotate) cos there was no way of building up pressure, may be it's jammed.
