Penelope
Littering disgusts me, simply no need, but as Una says, the is no stigma anymore. In my town, I see parents throwing litter about in front of their kids, so there is little wonder it happens. I have has so many arguments with people littering. What gets me is the abuse you get when these people are challenged, but that seems to be the default mode these days for anything. Blackpowder
You dont have to go into the wilds to find litter dropping morons its all around, especially where there are takeaway food outlets. Obviously no training is given in schools as here there are two council workers following the route from the local high school to the high street picking up pupils litter. So start of the learning curve , just drop youir litter somebody else will pick it up. The rock edges here are popular for summer sea angling, once you would be sore pushed to find a cigerette end. Now beer bottles, cans , tackle wrappers discarded nylon is all left behind. Is it part of yoof culture to leave litter? Because wherever boy racers are parked up there always seems to be an array of fast food wrappers and soft drink bottles the following day. old rooster
I'm afraid it is down to parents not instilling in their kids the fact that chucking rubbish down is wrong. Times I've seen somebody come out of a shop, take the wrapper of a packet of gaspers and just chuck the litter on the floor when there is a bin right there. Total ignorance!! My stepson brought his missus over from Georgia a few years back and we all went for a walk in the local woods, she unwrapped sweets and just chucked the litter on the floor. I told her to pick it up and take it home, her answer was that in Georgia they just chuck their rubbish on the ground and somebody else is paid to come and pick it up. I explained that this wasn't a street in a dump like Tbilisi but unspoilt woodland and that she could pick it up or experience an English boot five lace holes into where the sun don't shine. Think I got my point across as she did take it back and put it in the bin. As for bagging dog muck and hanging it in trees that must the actions of the ultimate moron? They've even had to put up a notice at the local woods telling people to stop doing it, trouble is that relies on the morons being able to read!
