kent Posted October 7, 2013 Report Share Posted October 7, 2013 (edited) No shot (Should) come into contact with the barrel walls of any steel or hevi-shot. That said the mis happen shape and size of the old hevi-shot has more chance of finding its way out of the shotcup while in barrel. Though even a steel proof gun cannot resists barrel marking from std steel shot when this occurs. For this reason many used mylar wraps and other measures when using hevi-shot that looks more like furnace slag than nice round shot . I know a guy who must have put hundreds of old factory hevi-shot through his AYA magnum and that was choked 1/2 and 1/2 to no ill effect - though the higher std proof never existed when these guns were built (this only means they are not tested when built new) personally I should get the gun checked for soundness by a suitably qualified person, then make your choice Edited October 7, 2013 by kent Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
