decoyally
Just wondering if I get a .223 rifle approved on my license can I go into a gun shop and get it changed for say a .22-250 or a .22 hornet ie center fires.. Same with rim fire. I heard it was coming in but forgot to find out! Some say I have to send it for variation bit others say it's just like swooping the shotgun! Thanks
delburt0
in gb you will have to send in for a 1 for 1 ie 1 taken off 1 put on i dont know if ni is the same, usually straight forward for lesser calibers 1 4 1 but they do question smaller to larger calibers ... tweedledee
same calibre only I think,
beanieboy
Same type also, I believe - for example I'm told you can't do a one on one off for .22 bolt action for a semi auto .22. Maybe someone can confirm if this is indeed the case.
manton
At present no. Banding of some calibers was one of the proposals made during negotiations about fees and is still pending agreement . Currently it is same caliber same type. dazz
I think you maybe can do that in n Ireland but only a reg firearms dealer can do a swap.just my dad lives nr Belfast and im sure he done a change from 1 cf to another for a different calibre without posting his firearms cert off to the local firearms dept and im sure its takes a little while to collect your fac back from that dealer.hope its of some help.... ordnance
You can go to the dealer and change one firearm of the same type and calibre for another. No need to go through the police you can walk out of the dealers with your new firearm. The dealer will put a line through the details of the firearm on your certificate you are leaving at the shop. And and write the details of the new firearm on your certificate he will inform the police of the changes.
