Frank
A good freind had one for 3 years, i was out with him after foxes most nights some time back. He eventually swaped it for a .223. Was bad at fouiling up and not the best in windy conditions. Frank.

Graham M
.17 Remington is something of an answer looking for a question IMO. Get a .22CF, or if you want something a little different, a .204 Ruger. http://www.bullberry.com/204Rugerdata.html G.M.

deadeye ive
It's one of them calibres in the catagory of small bullet in large cartridge ,examples of others would be 22/250 & 243 to name but a few . High velocity,s can be reached (4000 fps )and depending on what you want this calibre for then the barrel life is shortened considerably if you intend using it on the range alot with the odd shot being taken at quarry . Have a butchers at this site http://www.riflebarrels.com/faq_lilja_rifle_barrels.htm#Life Tikka say that shooting standard factory loads my .223 should have an accurate barrel life (if properly maintained )of around 6000 rds . If I had the money then yes I would have one but it would not be my primory rifle for vermin and pest control .
stevethevanman
I have roughly two miles of land to shoot on in one direction and currently own a 22lr as my largest calliber rifle I was thinking of getting a 17 Remington as I thought I would stand a better chance of getting this compared to applying for a 223 in one go. What do you guys think.

What do you guys think. You aint making any sense here What rifles do you have already and why would you stand more chance of getting a .17 centrefire than a .22 centrefire Before jumping in at the deep end get yourself well established with the rimfires then once you move up to centerfire(which is a whole new ball game) and better still try to get out in the field with someone who uses a centrefire on foxes and see how you get on then. markbivvy
i would have thought it would pass for the 223. if it will for the 17 rem. get them to look at it first. then tell you what it will pass for.
