A friend is visiting the UK from the USA in March, what items can they bring in with them for me, for example I was thinking of the following:

A Scope.

A couple of extra magazines for a 22lr

A replacement stock

Any advice much appreciated from you folks espescially if you have already done this sort of thing, failing that I supppose I will have to call Customs to see what they think.

Thanks.....

hey..

very recently (not 3 weeks ago).. i tried ordering a scope from Optics plannet in the USA and was told that it is against the law to carry or export a scope outside the U.S borders and carries a 10 year jail sentance. so before you ask your mate to bring you one..better have him double check with the propper authorities.

Thanks folks, looks like I have two problems to solve, firstly what the Americans will allow out of their country and what the UK will allow in. I will have to do some additional digging, i dont think it is worth the risk of just tucking it in your case and hoping for the best.

Thanks again.....Carl.

I'd think twice about the .22 magazines, your friend won't have a UK firearms license and I guess they could technically be a part of a firearm same with the stock. Both are better off sending by post from the US to you even though your friend is coming back anyway. However the scope I'd put in the middle of the suitcase and if hes asked asked its a gift for you.

For the cost difference I'd probably forget the magazines but the scope will save you a lot. Clothing and footwear is also well worth bringing back
