keeperdan
I have 2 game covers that run along side a mature wood and a plantation both of which I drive together, do I concentrate on feeding my game crops to keep the birds in them or feed in the wood as well. Last year when we drove it the birds was mostly in the woods.
r1steele
Depending on the layout I would be feeding in both. What Game crop have you planted?
Walshy
We cut feed rides into the crop and concentrate the feeding in there with only a few feeders in the woods atb walshy

r1steele
I would be doing exactly as Walshy has said and if you can have at least one of the rides cut through the game crops into the edge of the woods, preferably in the direction you will be driving your birds. With the kale I wouldn't be cutting the rides very wide, about 2ft and if your using hoppers make a section about 5ft around the hoppers. If you're hoping to flush the birds from the crop I would suggest opening a couple of flushing points near the end of the crops to give the birds a chance of getting out easily. I would cut the points a good 8ft back from the end of the crop so it lets the birds fly out and start heading towards the guns without knowing they are there. If you don't cut these areas you run the risk of the birds going right to the and of the crops and possibly seeing the guns before they have a chance of getting up and possibly trying to go back or going out of the sides. TIDES EDGE
Feed the cover crops the birds will always go back into the woods when they have finished feeding they do not feed all day ,they will feed at dawn then at about 2.30pm so it depends on what time you drive it as to where the birds are at least they are somewhere in the drive
