Wiltsmark
Hi, thinking about having a look at Laines shooting ground just for a change, anybody recommend it? I have read on there website that you have to buy there cartridges, are they at sensible price I haven't heard of this before!. Any idea of the prices per 100 clays?. Thanks for any replies W.M
88ajp
Hi, I have shot a Lains a few times and yes I have used their cartridges and they like you to do so as they have noise issues with the locals. Prices are going rate as in they don't ripe your arms off, thinks clays were 29'ish pence each so again going rate. As for the ground the clays are quite close, you will not find many long or high shots and a lot of the stands are sunk into the ground, again to keep the noise level down I expect. Not my favorite ground by a long way but ok for a change and the staff are friendly, you can also get a nice bacon sarnie and a cuppa when your done. welshwarrior
It's ok suffers due to noise complains so you have to use his quite cartridges. Not a ground I go out of my way to shoot at.

Not a ground I go out of my way to shoot at. +1, there's better not too far distant. As has been said, it's the sub-sonic cartridges that are the main problem, you'll need to change all your lead "pictures".
bisondan
The issue with the noise was with one old Doris who moved in near the ground, complained so much about the noise the changes with the cartridges and stands were made, she then moved away not long after. Chris Bb
I understand that, having messed up Laines' business she then moved on to tell Thruxton (racing circuit & airfield) that she didn't like their noise either. They were not quite so accommodating and told her exactly where to go and how to get there. Unless others have jumped on the bandwagon, perhaps there's a chance to Laines to revert to "proper" cartridges, that would be good news. EMcC
I used it last year for a session and was well pleased. I was told the 'holes in the ground' from which you shoot, were to give the clays more height. I used my own cartridges too. Not much point practicing with sub-sonic cartridges unless you are going to use them on the birds as well - I think not !!
