JonathanL
Are you sure it's a proof mark and not some type of makers marking or production code or similar? J.
seeker
Wasnt the Medalist made by Sabatini (FIAS) for Browning ? ..... But I also seem to remember seeing the +FGS+ on another gun made by Sabitini for someone else?

Stacker Shepherd
Thanks for the replies. Never thought of it being a makers mark. Thanks again
Leiopython
I'm an absolute newb at this so please take all this with a pinch of salt!! I went into my local gunsmiths today with exactly the same question I have a bettinsoli talento but there is no fleur de lis stamped on it anywhere I was told that you can fire any cartridge through a gun so long as it's the right size (ie mine can take 3 inch cartridges), and so long as there's a plastic wad in there instead of fibre it will be fine I was told steel is never gonna be great for your gun but it would take 10's of thousands of steel cart's to cause damage to the inside of the barrel It's put my mind at rest...I bought a huge amount of steel cartridges from a shop that was closing down and didn't want to waste them, but I think I will alternate lead and steel in the future Only reason I want to use steel is because I feed whole prey to my animals and didn't want the build up of lead just in case Although I've now realised in hindsight that wasn't really your original question was it?!?! Soz!!!
