Saturday Shoot with Fenny

Morning All,

I was fortunate to secure a couple of places for a spot of roost shooting on Saturday with Fenny, which he'd kindly offered at the beginning of the week.

After a cruise through Cambridgeshire we arrived at Fenny's place, met the other guns and after a short briefing, were on our way.

A 10 minute drive put us at the edge of a large spinney. The kit was sorted out and 2 pairs of us were walked into said spinney by Adrian & positioned along a cutting extended through the woods. The other guns were positioned in surrounding roosting zones in the local area to try and keep the birds moving.

There were birds flighting in while we were getting set up, so it was game on.

Plenty of cover and a nice open ride to shoot through was a great advantage you dont always get roost shooting.

Plenty of birds came in and provided some fun shooting... ( & missing too!).

After a couple of hours, the pair of us had taken 16 birds, picked 13 (3 lost in the tops of heavy undergrowth). Really enjoyable shooting in a great location.

Darkness called an end, and after a short walk back to the car we met up with Fenny & co.

After the usual post shoot chinwag and post mortem it was off home to breast out the birds, some of which went on to be enjoyed that night with a glass!

Just wanted to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to Shaun & co. For an excellent afternoon. It was very well organised and well run.

I don't have roost shooting opportunities on my permission and also the difficulties in gaining permission for many shooters out there, it is great to have people like Fenny, willing to offer these opportunities.

All for the princely sum of a tenner, the location and quality of this afternoon's shoot was outstanding.

A very well run day out, and I will definitely go again if the opportunity arises.

Thanks again to Shaun and all involved.
