Westley
As I was nearing the end of my bottle of American, Lucas Gun Oil, after some eight years of use, I set about trying to replace it. The shop that supplied it has long gone so I decided to search on Ebay. I managed to find a supplier in Southport who was selling 2 bottles for £7.99 inc. P&P.. I have used this 'tacky' oil on the bolt slide rails of my auto's, ejectors on opening guns and all my multi chokes. It also works well on my fly reels. The oil was designed for use with machine guns so can withstand extreme heat etc. I have tried all of the silicone type oils and just about every other gun lubricant available, but I have to say the red Lucas stuff works very well. It does not mix with the **** and jam up my auto's, a little goes a very long way (hence the 8 years since original purchase) I only remove the chokes after every fourth use of the gun and they simply fall out. I am also ordering a tub of their red tacky grease for use on the hinge pin and knuckles at £7.25 for a large tub, it will see me out ! Available from :- C. Bennis supplies and services, 99, Southbank Road, Southport, PR8 6QL. 01704 544711. Due to the small amount required to lubricate the essential bits, it does last a long time and therefore works out cheaper than most of the 'gunshop' available lubricants. I still use the spray on, 3 in 1 oil for the outside weather protection. 2 bottles of this should keep even the biggest of arsenal's going for a long time.
