pigeonslayer15
Had an hour along a tree line which were all oaks, when I turned up there were at least a 100 dropping under these tree's which is the first ive ever seen, so set the gear up, a few shells and the magnet, within 5 mins the birds were coming back, and they were decoying perfect, I ended up with 32 so not a bad bag for bein there just an hour, its the first bit of decoying ive done since harvest so really pleased it turned out so well, ive looked all round the rape fields and not a bird in sight so hopefully with a few more frosts the birds will be there

DEADLY PLUMBER
Well done sounds like a nice little ambush. I was up at Redbourn yesterday afternoon with my young cocker just for a walk about. Which turned out to become a roost shoot in the woods. As their was loads in the wood in the trees on the floor and all over the ivy. I got 7 & a jackdaw. I should of got Moore but I was also trying to train the dog. It's nice to shoot a few. I think your right in our area they are not on the rape at all. Probably Feb or March. All birds were full of acorns and Berrys. A couple had a bit of rape. ATB. Michael170874
Yeah i set up in the middle of a big roost wood yesterday with my airgun shot 48 landing in the oaks then another 19 on the floor picking up acorns .there was at least 1500 birds in that wood .the farmer was happy for me to use my airgun but not my shotgun as there are pheasants in there im just waiting for feb3 cos i can get stuck into them on the rape which has been planted around the wood .hopefully it wont scare the birds away from roosting.
