craigpigeonshooter
How often can a field be shot before it is overshot? Obviously the whole reason of shooting pigeons is to get them off the fields.
colin lad
some of the fields over this way you could shoot once and not see a bird again on it for weeks and others you can go every week for months colin
pigeon controller
We manage to shoot the same farm each weekend but not the same field if we are not pressured by the farmer we would leave it at least a fortnight. If you shoot the same field each week they will move off and find another. We also have summer and winter farms that collect pigeons at different times of the year so the trick is to try and have a number of farms which I know is difficult when you are starting out but over a number of years you will collect farms as you chase the birds. motty
Visiting the same fields too often can be counter-productive to decoying, as can a farmer who is over-active with his scaring regime. I once knew an old decoyer who would visit the same fields all the time. He always got bags of half a dozen or so. Far better to leave the fields for a week or two and then hit them hard. As PC said, if you have a few farms to shoot, you can 'rotate' where you shoot.
