station
I've done a bit of research on these, but - I know they come in 2 parts - 1 part hard wired (receiver / controller) 1 part wireless (placed where you want it) Now most info that I have found has been for new installs so the hard wired part goes near / next to the boiler. I want to replace the room stat as it is currently near a radiator so it reaches temp way before the rest of the house. Currently I just set it at a higher temp, but would like more control of the heat. So can I replace my current room stat with the hard wired part of a wireless version and then site the wireless part where I want it ? Many thanks for any help or pointers. shootthepigeon
You could do, but the reciever unit needs a permanent live and neutral, provided these are available the switching shouldn't be a problem.
Yellow Bear
Put the hard wired part close to the programmer where you will have the required permanent supply and take out the current stat link and replace with a short one from the box. Just out a blank plate where the old stat was ( or use as a frost stat across programmer set at say 10deg)

Martin2
Get a honeywell one there the best in my opinion.
DorsetJasper
They are a brilliant bit of kit, I fitted one a couple of weeks ago and it has made a massive difference and kept a constant temperature. Screwfix have a good selection and they are easy to fit! We went for a Horstmann in the end after reading lots of reviews etc.
