Hi, I own gamo hunter 440 some 8 years and have noticed decrease in power. I have already made a topic on this forum before about buying reserve spring (because I cant find it in my country) and one guy told me that T.W.Chambers & Co. sales them, but guy got sick so trade was temporarily impossible. Now he is back at business and I would like to ask is only warn up spring causing lack in power or it would be good to exchange some other parts too? Thanx

P.S. sorry for my bad English

I would try to speak to GAMO directly. Get a new spring from them, or from a GAMO dealer (in your country?).

This thread could lead onto a "how to increase power" discussion which is not allowed on this forum. This is because we have a legal limit of 12ft/lb in this country.

Sorry to be a bit vague but if you tell us where you are from we might be able to help a bit more.

Your best course of action is to find a decent gun shop that can help you. Replacing the main spring on an air rifle is a hazardous thing if you are not equipped to deal with it.

As Snakebite mentions contact the manufacturer who will almost certainly point you in the right direction.

Contact BSA - they're the new owners of GAMO, and are responsible for supply of spares to the trade. However, in my experience they're not exactly falling over themselves to keep up to date on older models. Their attentions are firmly on new products at the moment and customer service has dipped a bit as a result. You'll stand a better chance of getting older parts if you make your enquiry through a BIG dealer who'll less likely be fobbed off by BSA.

I have heard of springs breaking due to flaws in the steel: it still shoots but does so at a much decreased power.

and ruins the cylinder walls too. by the way, ive shot airguns for 30 years, run the daystate owners club, formed and run bolton air gun society and have owned every gun in the shops propelled by air. wheres the gasket on an air gun?
