kent
You need a proper rifle cleaning fluid to be fair. The fouling is different as Rifles leave copper in the bore (new ones and old worn ones often quite a lot). Bore Foam (leave it in a lot longer than it says), Butch's bore shine, and a specialist copper remover such as Sweets or shooters choice are what you really need. Get a proper bore guide for your rifle to prevent solvent getting into the bedding and wayward rod use damaging the leade of the bore. Also a good parker hale type rod a British to USA adapter a spear point jag a pack of appropriate pre-cut patches, copper and nylon brushes. Shotgun solvent is just not aggressive enough to tackle what is left behind by a jacketed bullet fired down a rifled bore at 3000fps
Therealchucknorris
As Kent said above... Plus I use a light oil on the outside of the barrel as well to help guard against the elements and rust.
