dazzyboi
Right.. As many of you know im on a 3 month probation for my FAC started 3 weeks ago... The club owner has come upto me and told me i can purchase a rimfire of my choice (CZ American 21" .17hmr) and he keep it for the 3 month probation, its mine and it will be used exclusivly by me until my 3 months is up. OR Wait until the 3 months is up, then purchase it from him Obviously the pros being that if i get it sooner it means i will have more time to get used to it.. What do you fellas recon?? Issue of a FAC is not a problem, the FEO has got my cert on hold and will be with me within 1-2 weeks of me completing my probation period. dazzyboi
what did you do to get put on probation? Nothing..I just dont have any firearms experience (well i do now) but at the time of my home visit i only had experience with shotguns. So he said my FAC would be granted under the condition that i do a probation just to keep him happy. Sod it..ill go for it..wont have the money for another few weeks anyway so it aint too much of a problem!

njc110381
I'm unsure which way I'd go on that one. If you are certain you like the gun then buy it now, but if there's any chance you may get to use a range of different .17s at the club, I'd do that just in case you come across one you like better than the one you want now. One point to bear in mind is that CZ 452s are on offer to the dealers at the moment, so the price may well go up before your probation is over. One more reason to buy it now

dazzyboi
daz the quote was from van man, the roll eyes is mine. i do read most of the posts mate, not just part of them. Sorry mate, i sometimes miss these things!! lol Also njc im not buying it from a shop..Im buying it new from the club owner who is also a registered dealer..The prices in his catalogue are fixed and are cheaper than going through the Shop. They do not have any .17 club guns and im sure of this gun. Iv done research and the amount of people i that have recommended them there is no need to have ago on it. So what is involved in this probation do you just do nothing them your time is up, how does it work? Nothing really..just go down the range, shoot some guns, when the 3 months is up, inform the FEO who will then ring up the club owner and confirm that i have been going, then my FAC will be granted. Its just basically getting some experience under my belt, getting to know different calibers etc. Nothing major.

Iv done research and the amount of people i that have recommended them there is no need to have ago on it. If thats the case does the club have provision for .17hmr on its ticket? If not is it legal for you to shoot a .17 that is technically not yours until you have it on your FAC? If I remember correctly non FAC holders can only shoot calibres that are allowed on the club ticket. I could be wrong as I'm going back a few years when problems arose with people shooting LBR's either not club guns or on someone elses ticket. Dave Yes they do, they have people shooting .17hmr's on the club ground, the club owner also has this caliber on his ticket. But he simply does not have a .17 as a club gun. He wouldnt ask me to do it if it wasnt feasable

I'd go for it if you're sure it's what you want. What I meant by the price thing was that dealers are getting them cheap at the moment. Your club mate may not be able to get them from CZ as cheaply soon, so his prices will have to go up otherwise he will be making a loss by selling it to you

Ill have the money in around 10 days time
