FalconFN
It is best to do as little sanding on the stock as possible, especially on the chequering. Use nitromors and then sand with finest paper you can get away with.
evo
as falconfn has said, use nitromorsand where the chequering is use a fine suede brush to clean out,,don't use sandpaper as that can seriously scratch your stock,,,use wire wool, medium grade first and then go onto a fine grade to get the stock really smooth, if you have any marks or dents then get a steam iron and a damp flannel place over the dent and iron it out, amazing how good that works, best of luck with it atb Evo
sonicdmb
paint stripper and tooth brush or suede brush if needed I find works for me. I also have an imperial thread file which come in handy as a scraper as it has teeth at 12 16 20 teeth per inch and fits most chequering
weihrauch hw100
the iron worked a treat for the imperfections. thanks for the info guys
welshwarrior
Strip stock work through sand paper grits 150 to as fine as you like finer you go the smoother your finish. Chequering stiff tooth brush and acetone to remove carp don't sand the chequering unless you can re point it all.
