death from below
Had to laugh.....Although I love Eley as a cartridge company(have used eley pigeon for so long now) their new camo cartridge deal is a bit fancy......cartridges look nice in a dark green army style colur....and the little folding camo box would be nice for holding an assortment of mints or fancies for a dinner part....but i doubt whether my bag is going to increase greatly with this new range......I've had no trouble with their traditional bright red Pigeon cartridges but hey....although I have not checked out the price of them yet, I bet they are more expensive than the red ones......unless of course If I open up the shell of a new camo one I might find that each individual ball has been pain stakingly hand painted in british army green and black camo paint.... now that would be worth paying a few pence extra per 25 for. Poacher
Yeah a real gimmick, i think that its more of an advertising stunt to get you talking and thinking about the brand, than camoflaged ammo. Seems to have worked
Hunter
I know some people who will only shoot blue cartridges If it works in your gun, and you are happy with it, stick to it. But dont let advertising or looks get in the way of performance.

Not being a FAC.....that gun that you have got showing scares the daylights out of me....and also greatly impresses.....I assume you are not some russian arms dealer and have taken that off the front of a red army tank.....it looks as though it could stop one though..... Pictures can be deceiving. Its actually one of the smallest centerfire callibers, .222Rem Good range to around 250yds, a little more for plinking The wooden stocked rifle is a .22lr Rimfire Both rifles are made in Finland, so no risk of Russians involved

Hunter
Everyone needs to learn someday Centerfire: a bullet case that contains a seperate primer in the rear center of the case. This is what causes ignition upon the firing pin strike. Centerfire cases can be reloaded and the reloader can choose everything from bullet, primer, and powder type he uses, to maximise accuracy from a paticular gun. Centerfire bullets are more expensive due to being a more complex design, and manufactureing process. Centerfire bullets are usually comper jacketed to provide a good seal with minimal barrel wear. Rimfire: a small casing, where the firing pin generally strikes the outer rear rim of the bullet to cause ignition. When the small case is made, shock sensitive priming compound is place in the rear of the case. Due to its simplicity, size, and value, rimfire cases are not reloaded, (and for safety reasons) so usually the shooter will try varius brands untill he finds one suitable for the gun. Rimfire cartidges are bought in boxes usually containing 50, or 100 rounds of ammunition, and are far cheaper to centerfire type bullets. Rimfire bullets are usually plain lead, but you can also buy copper washed bullets. (these are usually high-velocity) However in the case of the .17 HMR rimfire (fairly new round) these are jacketed bullets like a centerfire. This is a centerfire cartridge from a box of Winchesters I use. And this is a set of rimfire .22lr bullets Look here for an idea of size difference in a collection of bullet types I use. pin
I love the ammo pic too, If only you could have a weekend where you needed to use a good number of each of them, what a weekend that would be
Hunter
Pin, your to right. I have only shot 40 rounds through that rifle as I must have my mentor present, as a condition on my licence. (very soon to change). I also dont get out with my .22lr much, but thses factors make it more enjoyable when I do finally get the chance As soon as I have passed the driving test, I expect to be out a little more. Also currently doing a chainsaw course, and then DSC 1 One must be licenced to brush your own teeth nowadays
Madcowz
Do not buy these Eley RealTree cartridges from Eley, they are a waste of money. I bought a box of 200 in their cool carry case, nice packaging, surely this must help my shooting. Put them down in the hide and that was them lost for hours.
