A deer that took 1 hr to die is likely never going to be found, so I think this is fiction and agenda lead because nobody want to shoot a deer and not find the carcass after the shot. Deer don't generally creep off when wounded they run and run fast! During an hour of running they can go a long way 75% of those hit too far back take an hour to die, yes I can buy that but I have seen similar with rifles, I have also taken a few three legged deer that were hit months previously by various day stalkers with their rifles. I am more in favour of letting persons of proved competence out with a bow and broadhead out to hunt deer in the woods at 50 yards or less than I am of letting crass amateurs out with a great big cannon of a rifle they cannot use correctly to shoot at deer a couple of hundred yards off, I have seen them miss, wound and shoot a different animal than they are told to shoot. In short its not the tool its the person.
