Albert 888
As above the rifle is awaiting to be picked up when and if my variations eventually come back, just wanted a good starting point to start loading,ie powder, primers and heads. Going to buy 100 lapua case's to start with after shooting in with some cheap factory rounds. Got the faster twist as I am chasing high bc heads specifically the 208g amax, but going to start with 155g heads first. This will be mainly a target rifle 100m-300m with a view to going diggle when sorted. Obviously I will need readily available stuff. Any advise will be welcomed. Cheers Albert. Albert 888
I got the 24" heavy stainless as a compromise as I need it for a stalking rifle also and founds are tight at the moment hence I bought the howa. Got it from brock and norris in the end with an AI 10 shot conversion and action work a tactical bolt and got the trigger sorted to break the same as my cz. Im currently using the cci br2 primers with the .223 they are working well for me.
Subaru_sti5
If you have not already bought them the cheapest place I found the Lapua cases is at sportsmanguncentre at £54 per 100. If that's of any use to you. Or if u can get them cheaper let me know please :-)
phaedra1106
Do you know anyone near Bisley? the NRA usually have once fired RWS in .308 for £10/100, excellent brass and as good as Lapua. I have a Howa with the heavy Varmint 20" barrel and it loves A-Max, Nosler CC or Lapua Scenars in 168gr over 42gr of N140. I got all my brass mixed up with the 223 and im just getting back on top of everything.
Harnser
The load that I have used for many years in my .308 is , 150 grain bullet driven by 45 grains of vit 140 . Using any primer available . This load and combination is accurate and hard hitting and will drop red stags in their tracks . No doubt the forum know all will come along with a much better combination and go into a diatribe of a load of old nonsense . Harnser.
