Dr W
Hope you lot can help. I've searched the forum but can't find the answer. I've been offered a M Reg 1994, Shogun, 3.5l v6, 24v LWB which has done 150k but had a recon engine 13k miles ago. It's got all the gadgets you'd expect but not sure about ride, reliabilty etc. The problem is, is that we went out in my friends work L200 Warrior over the weekend and it bounces like Tigger on crack compared to his R reg Range Rover. He suggests a gas converted classic Range Rover on a similar plate but I'm not sure as I've never driven a shogun. I hoping someone has/had one and can tell me more or can point me in the right direction. Have to move quickly as it's not a bad price. Cheers

They are built well and last well but are thirsty if fuel isn't an issue then go for it but if it is you'd probably be better off with a diesel one or an LPG conversion

Do you lose any space in the back or is it all underneath?

Cost wise approx £1500 and I'd say only worth doing if the car is cheap
Dr W
Thanks for the info. £2500 which I don't think is bad considering the woman paid £8k for it two years ago after the recon engine was put in. Never been off road and used to pull a caravan 5 or 6 times. Do they have leaf springs on the back or independent.
webber
Untill recently. I have owned a number of Shoguns, and was always very pleased. One of my companies activities is autogas conversions. www.cars2gas.co.uk. You can remove the existing petrol tank, and replace it with a smaller, specially made petrol tank. The space that is left is sufficient to hold a 70 litre gas tank which is sufficient. Its a pity that you are so far away, as we have the kit that we took off my last car when it was writtrn off for me. I loved my shoguns, but the ride in the rangie is better, when the air suspension works. webber

OldBill
The 3.5 is kind of similar to the Holy Grail of Shoguns. The 3.5 is better than the 3.0 for economy and not much worse that the diesel, but if you can handle an average of 25 mpg they're fantastic motors.
