keg
Timeless classless classic, when one pulls up the driver could be anyone .... from any walk of life, gentry, landowner, farmer, bus driver, mechanic, tree surgeon ..... quite literally universal! Exactly. It was also at the cold end of the cool wall on Top Gear all the time. I go both ways. Landcruiser is the wife's everyday drive. She bought me an N reg 90 Defender for my 40th, just the 110,000 miles on it. Never had a peep out of it yet given it some stick. It's a working vehicle for me. Both the LC have their appeal but the Defender always makes me smile.
RED BEARD
I have defender and the mrs has disco, we are both insured to drive either vehicle but the mrs wont drive mine as she says its to big and hard to drive, even though I've told her its more or less the vehicle with a different body on! Pigeon sniper
I've got an '89 90 as a first car and it's slow, noisy, rains inside more than outside and drinks fuel like gazza drinks lager and will occasionally throw it's toys out of the pram and refuse to have anything electrical work on it but it's my 90 and I love the way I can get to the green lanes after the hilux we who went racing ahead but then turn up, rescue them from wherever they're stuck and then bounce on up first time in my 25 year old machine. Can you tell I like them? Haha
Chris Bb
I have a Freelander 2 courtesy car while my Defender's being fixed. The Freelander's a fantastic car............... But it isn't a Defender. Well, after a couple of days driving the Freelander around I bought one, trading in the Defender. No, I don't get the grin I used to but I do get a very comfortable, capable family car, good enough for the limited off roading I now do. The Defender was great but too small for two of us plus dog plus baggage. I now realise that all the previous Defender/Series vehicles I've owned were great successes because they were second cars and used as such. Retirement finances mean I'll probably never own another Series/Defender which saddens me but I do have years of happy memories of them all.
