hoggysreels
Has anyone stripped down the above binoculars ? I want to try and remove the right side top prism cover "not the prism assembly" ... had an unfortunate accident which resulted in my set getting banged. No focal effect, focus is still fine. Would like to try and raise the dent from the cover if possible .. not the end of the world if its not practicable. Just lv'e had them from new and they hold sentimental value, aside from being quality optics, even by standard 35 years on since purchase ... cheers Edited May 30, 2014 by hoggysreels
JohnfromUK
I'm no expert, but I had a similar issue on an older Leica Trinovid set I have. The advice I received is 'don't touch' unless there is optical damage (misalignment etc.) I was told the risks of misalignment caused by opening and disturbing are considerable - and re-alinging needs a collimator, and both skill and experience. With hindsight I'm glad I left alone as mine remain optically excellent.

iain
If it bothers you that much, send them to Action optics for repair. Have heard they are quite good.
