naddan28
As stated I am hopefully shooting tomorrow, only have one lecture in afternoon so not worth driving the 40mile round trip for 1hr lecture. Therefore am going shooting, however dont have a facemask yet and wondered whether any of the guys could impart some wisdom as to a quick homemade jobby if i cant get to a shop in the morn? naddan28
Have no hide either, I really do need to get some gear so I think if one of the fieldsports shops is open in the morn may have to pay it a lil visit! Any reccomendations? I own full camo 95, some wellies and my rifle!
pin
Make a hide, pinch a pruner out the garden shed, or take something suitable and construct something. Failing that, the stealth ghost camo netting is hard to beat, light and compacts down. Hide poles, well, everyone likes different things, I have the type which screw into the ground, the site sponsor sells very decent ones with a heel plate on them. You could spend a fortune

njc110381
I wouldn't worry too much about getting covered up. Just keep still and you should get something. If you're that bothered, good old mud takes the shine off
arnold
no naddan28, i know it sound funny , but it darkens the face and breaks it down if you wear a hat too... my mate has at a last minute thing might look naughty and funny but does works

njc110381
If you can, get a balaclava type rather than a loose net. The net tickles your face in the wind!
naddan28
Today's result: Went to a local gunshop (only been once before I got my gun and was quite an intimidating place) met a really nice guy who worked there and sorted me out with some neophrane gloves and 12 shell decoys for £25. However no face masks!!! So went down the farm, had a quick walk about without the gun and saw a rabbit for the first time ever on this farm! However, after spending some time zeroing and practicing in the garden, I went back out for half hour hidden and did not see a single piece of quarry even in 100yds. So decided to go home early, had a good chat with the farmer and he wants me to come down next week on another one of the farms which he lets from a friend who lives in a huge house on it. This bloke is on hols so can shoot all week there (normally a bit touchy with shooters in the fields!) Finally got home, unpacking my gear and danny the next door neighbour saw the gunslip and said, "oh been out shooting, never knew you shot. What you shoot with?" So had a nice long 20min chat, it turns out he is a seasoned shooter and has now got a .22 fac theoban rapid, which is tuned upto 55ft/lbs! Now he is going to take me out lamping one night. So some positive from a **** days shooting!
