When I was putting yesterdays pigeons in the freezer today , I noticed something shining in the bottom and to my surprise one of the pigeons had a ring on its foot , and in over 45 years of shooting pigeons this is the first one I have ever seen , although I don't check every pigeon I get , over the years Ive handled several thousand and never yet seen another , have any of you pigeon shooters out there had one yourselves and if so did you send the details away ? I will send the number to the B T O and I will let you know the outcome . The last ring I got was off a Woodcock shot on the Norfolk / Suffolk border two seasons ago, I sent the details ect to the B T O and when I got the imformation back it had only travelled about 12 miles from where it was rung 13 months before.

A few years back I had two shot in the same location a week apart.

I sent the details off and it turned out they were ringed in the same nest about 35 miles from where they were shot.

I would imagine you getting very good odds from the bookies in ever doing that again Fenboy. I wonder if the game dealers come across 1 or 2 when they proses them , if all the rings were sent back we would begin to know how far they travel , if they do travel at all that is !
