Mate, I feel for you... had the exact same thing happen to mine after an evening shooting out of my truck window, resting the fore-end on the wing mirror... got home to give it a clean, and noticed the fore-end was rather "chewed"!!! Hunter
For the dents: If its an oiled stock (non varnished gloss finish) you can get away usually very well by using a hot iron and a peice of damp cloth, using this pressed against the dents to steam them out. Do this carefully not to singe the wood, but its a very practical method, and woks almost everytime. For the rust: Take some 0000 grade wire wool (or buy some if you havent got any, dont compromise) and add some gun oil to the wool, then gently, very gently rub away on the rust. This will remove a lot of the rust, sometimes all of it if its not to deep. Used this many times on varius guns, with good results.
pin
Common sense really but worth mentioning, every single time you use your gun at the very least give the metal parts a wipe with a slightly oiled rag. Blueing/blacking is chemical rusting and does not prevent rust from forming, it needs a barrier from the air (oil). This is especially the case if you are out all day in the cold then bring it in to a warm house, you will have condensation form. Don't leave it in the slip, take it out and dry it first, let it sit for an hour and then wipe it down and you should beat the rust.
kirky640
if it works dont try to fix it, dont try to teach your dad how to make babys enjoy your shooting as long as your gun shoots straight cheers kirky
