tody27
went out for a bit of roost shooting 2nite, shot half a dozen and was on my way back when I saw what I thought was 4 rabbits feeding together. 0000 i thought il take a crack at one and shoot another as its running away.- I lifted the gun, shot, and missed!! the four rabbits ran away! i didnt bother goin for the 2nd wabbit coz i was in a state of shock!! it was only until i walked up to where i had shot that i realised it was just a sod of earth. DAM. V. Embarresed with myself, thought i wud share my embarrasment with you lot. Any of you want to admit to any similar incidents? :*) :*) Tody

Vermin Dropper
I'm not having a go at you Tody, but on a serious note, if you could't see clearly what you were shooting at, Should you have taken the shot? I've mistaken clumps of turf for bunnies myself at a distance in low light, but if not sure you dont take the chance.
Quercus
I think a lot of us have been there in some way or another. One night I spent half an hour trying to lip squeak what we thought was a fox on the edge of a wood. Turned out to be a six furrow reversible plough. :*) Q

Cranfield
I spent ages, slithering through wet muddy grass, creeping up on two "ducks" I saw on a flight pond. I eventually got within range and jumped up to flush them, all that happened was two "plops", as the two water voles that had each been sitting on the end of the short pieces of floating wood, jumped into the water. The mess I was in would have been worth it for a couple of ducks, but not just to scare some water voles.
squirrelhunter
Clumps of dried tistle are the ones that get me, they look a lot like errect rabbit ears and heads in certain positions.
