Remimax
This has prob been covered loads of times but can someone tell me if this FAC is closed or open. conditions for rifles read the same. here's one example "The .22/250 rifle sound moderator and ammo to which this certificate relates shall be used for destruction of foxes and for zeroing on suitable land over which the holder of this certificate has permission to shoot with this class of firearm from the person by whom shooting rights are owned ,,leased or otherwise obtained." Thats it ,the land put forward for initial application is not on it and no mention of land deemed suitable by chief constable. Remimax
That is an open ticket thanks for the reply. wasnt sure, the wording on these things never makes any sense to me. why can't they word it you have a "restricted fac" or an " unrestricted fac". robbiep
I agree. Even the words 'closed' and 'open' are widely used, so they could even be given formal definitions. A FAC would then have, at the top of it "This is a CLOSED certificate", or the opposite
Dougy
"Destruction" not seen that one before
Duckman91
Does that mean that he can only shoot foxes and nothing else with his .22/250?
brett1985
Does that mean that he can only shoot foxes and nothing else with his .22/250? Technicaly, yes. well, that and zeroing. REMIMAX, might be worth getting AOLQ added to your conditions if at all possible...

Ok cheers Brett. Just curious but what would the punishment be for shooting something not on his cert say a rabbit for example. I suppose this can all be avoided if you get AOLQ. Kes
AOLQ is now standard in Cheshire where I am - my last variation updated all firearms to AOLQ - interesting that the shooter has to have specific permission for that rifle and not just permission or firearms. So unless your landowner approves 22-250 explicitly, you are shooting illegally one assumes?

brett1985
im not really sure what would happen in way of punishment to be fair. i would like to think that the law would take a common sense approach to someone shooting suitable pests with their rifle, but as we all know, the sensible approach doesnt always get taken. i would, however, imagine that if you were found to be shooting things outside of your conditions laid out on your certificate that the police would have grounds to revoke your certificate, and depending on the severity of the case, possibly have grounds for prosecution of some sort (im just spitballing with the last part)
