The 100k or the London spin?

Good luck. Hopefully be watching on the goggle box on Sunday.

Anyone else doing this? I'm riding on behalf of MACS, a charity that supports kids born with under-developed or no eyes. 06:45 departure along with the rest of the Romford CC train :-)

Take the rain cape and shoe covers, allegedly the remnants of a tropical storm are due to hit on Sunday according to the beeb.

The 100miles "for fun" ride on Sunday. Not the pro race although aiming for a pretty good time.

Thank-you.

Gust to nearly 50mph expected.

As long as not too gusty I'll be using my deep V section carbons wheels :-)

Yep, no TT bikes allowed but expecting to see some with aero bars fitted. It's inevitable that unregistered riders will join throughout the route.

I was, but I withdrew :/

It was just the reality of not being able to get enough miles in, and also having to abstain from a decent amount of socialising in the lead up to the event.

Had a hotel booked and everfink

Luckily the hotel refund policy was a little more flexible than the Ride London....

Good luck to anyone doing it :good:

Yes it is a shame, I have been inundated with "you could have done it anyway" comments, which if course I could, but unless I could do in a decent time that I can be happy with I won't. I can go for a bike ride anytime and just bimble about, to me it was never about that.

The annoying thing is I had a sportive to fall back on as a plan B but now my mate has decided to get married the day before :(

Been pacing my son for the past few weeks but his training program includes late nights, beer, tab's and not refraining from female delights, on the last run out I was left wondering why he expects to gain a good time/finish.

Me, can't stand crowds so have no interest in cycling with 24k others, get more satisfaction from doing my own thing and I donate to the Willow Foundation on a regular basis, look it up and donate.

I would agree with rides like the London to Brighton where most people walk up he hills so it is almost impossible to ride them, but part of the appeal of the Ride London was closed roads, never done that before.

As small consolation ride I may do the London Palace to Palace, if nothing else the 'views' can be quite spectacular ;)

London Triathlon? A little swim before to warm up and a little jog after to cool down with a tasty little 40k in the middle?

A cracking route from Excel to tower bridge and back twice... (Going through the Limehouse link) - where I clocked over 40mph on the hill in to it. I learnt from last year that the best way of tackling the lime house link is to go like hell down into it, keep the speed on the flat and get out the saddle on the way up it.

PW Time Trial? Feeling left out now I haven't got a working road bike.

I'm doing 21 miles to the lake tomorrow at 6am to swim a mile and then 21 miles home. looks like a wet day to be had.

Nice one, all flat or throwing some hills in?

I have picked some hills for on the way and back, but in hindsight know it's going to hurt on the return journey!

But all good fun and part of my future Ironman journey :-)

Up and down, some longish drags and short ramps as opposed to proper climbs. Loughton to Fyfield and back via, Theydon Bois, Abridge and Ongar.

Nice,

So thinking about it, Chelmsford is half way (ish) between us - (I'm in Colchester). I'll have to cycle up to Ongar one day in the coming months as part of my training :-)

Yes, although I'm in Harlow. Riding partner lives in Loughton, but his Cannondale won't go in the Porsche, so I go to his.
