my only good day

Had a call from a friend offering an afternoon.

so I got there about 12 and it all looked good, over cut wheat that hadn't been stripped bare by modern combines, with the sun, wind and thick woods behind us,a nice protruding corner to put us nicely deep in the field.

I set up a row of hyperflap inflated deeks in a row down right side.a small cluster of half shells wrapped in hyperflap coversover to the left and a turbo flapper 25 meters straight out in front.

They liked it and started coming in straight away.It was clear that I was rusty, thats all I'm prepared to say as I was missing more than hitting(7 in a row!!!).my mate, who is a very good shot arrived about an hour later,we shared the hide as it's all about the social so we were set for a nice time.I worked out that I was giving way too much lead and once adjusted my hits improved.my mate was hitting stuff but they weren't going down easily.i looked at his shells and he had accidently brought 24grm 7 steel clay shells(same colour reed as his pigeon carts),so luckily I had brought enough and it got better, the birds were coming up and either heading straight into the pattern or stayed to the right of the line,so my mate moved to a patch that would sort that line out asand when they seemed to prefer that route.I had some really cracking shots so that made up for the missing.

We could have hit perhaps an extra 60 if i'm honest as it took a while to get out of clay mode and into pigeon mode but we picked up 87 and i got 42ish,but it was a great day.sharing the hide was a bit frustrating If I got the differcult option and my mate was hitting loads, but he took shots that i wouldn't have tried so it was even really, but once he move I improved, he came back a few times and we did get some good shots in,i got a pair and he took 3 in one salvo and we cheered like kids.a great day with a great mate
