welshwarrior
Ok I'm new to rifle reloading have I misunderstood the manual, can I use any large rifle primer or do I need the one they used in the recipe?
Redgum
use what you like as long as you back the load off by 10% and work up to an accurate load before max pressure. I use cci200 for both 243 and 308 and have some really accurate loads, after a few 1000 I have never had one let me down or go off in the auto primer. welshwarrior
I'm think Fiocchi large rifle as I think I can get them easily hoping to build up a load then not have to change components. So I'll make sure I can get them, then work up a load I was going to start at the minimum load then work towards max load 10 rounds at a time until I get a winner or a bad sign. Just need bullets now.
deershooter
As long as you use a standard primer and not a magnum and start 10 % below the top end you will be fine Deershooter
kent
No just work the load up this is were shotgun and rifle loading alters. In shotgun loading one just loads as per the published data, rifle you always work up from 10% below max looking for pressure so any changes should be seen and then you stop. If you change primer re-work the load though I have never found issues it can occur I am sure via hotter primers. I must admit I felt uncomfortable at first just starting at published data to the letter and leaving it there with shotgun after years of rifle loading working up loads looking foe pressure sign.
