sitsinhedges
Technically subsonic, it's a little slow but will still kill. My bag of 140 posted in sporting pictures last week was achieved using cartridges that had no5 shot going at 1050fps. We use a slightly larger shotsize to compensate for lack of speed then let the pattern, or lack of, govern maximum range. Getting reasonably consistent speeds over your chrono will also tell you a lot.

Continental Shooter
A1 isn't a powder I would use to push 28g, at all! What prime, case and crimp did you use? A1 is a very progressive powder which should support a loading range of 24-26gr, exceptionally (and only after proofing) you want to try 27 My load of: 70mm Fiocchi 615 1,30 gr X 26gr 6 stars crimp @ 59.8 mm gave me 719 bar & 323 m/s of V10 instead 1.35gr X 27gr produced 848 bar and 404 m/s of V0 I think that powder is too low and this load is very unbalanced hence why the recoil (which, with this powder should always be smooth) despite the low speed. Still be interesting to know all the components used.
