Rst1990
On my licence I have .22 exp rounds to purchase can I buy solid rounds? I have been to two separate gun shops now and they have refused to sell me solid rounds, saying that to them it only appears that you can buy expanding rounds. Have looked on net but can't find answers for proof that I can. Thanks
casts_by_fly
you should be able to with no problems, however if two independent shops have said no, maybe we're missing something. What is the exact wording on your certificate? rick
moorvale55
If your FAC is for target use only then you can only buy solids, if your FAC is for "hunting" you are allowed to buy solids and expanding ammunition as stated by the Chief Officer of Police. Rst1990
My fac is for hunting on private land on my ticket the exact words are .22lr exp. The shop said it should also say solid? If your FAC is for target use only then you can only buy solids, if your FAC is for "hunting" you are allowed to buy solids and expanding ammunition as stated by the Chief Officer of Police. Have looked through home office guidance and can't see anything that I can buy solids
Beardo
i've never seen a license say both - as above - if you have target only then you can only buy solids, but if you have expanding listed you can buy whatever you want. i've certainly never had any issue buying solids - from Bisley range shop to Park Street Guns to Barnet Gun shop and more not once has someone questioned it. bluesj
They are talking **** unless some one has screwed up the condition on your licence. I think it should say the hold may purchase and hold expanding amintion ect or words to that effect, the inportant word being MAY
Beardo
this is my old license (haven't got a scan of current on me) - there's no legal requirement to use expanding on vermin (though it is good practise) does yours have similar wording on the expanding section? Rst1990
I called my feo up today to check what was what and he said that there should be no problem in me purchasing solid ammunition. I had my ticket to hand and on the certificate it says what ammunition I can have .22exp. I said to him that it does not say anything that I can have solid ammo, he then got my ticket up on computer and said yours is the new style fac On the left it has .22rf exp and on right it has .22rf The .22rf is the standard round ie solid. He said he shall call the shop, not that it matters as I'm now not working anywhere near their anymore. Thanks for the help guys
