michufc
Hi to all my pups are ready for collection and one is supposed to go tomorrow and one of my pups has worms. Now I wormed them 2 days ago now is it ok to send him or shall I keep him for a bit and if so how long should I keep him. Now the new owner hasn't had a dog before so not sure what to do for the best Cheers mike
loriusgarrulus
Could you send the pup with a supply of worming tablets and instructions. If you wormed them 2 days ago, it could be the ones appearing are the ones the treatment has done for.
michufc
Well that's what I thought I will see the new owners regular as well and have already told them that pups are prow not worms and to worm them at least every month up till 6 months old then every two months. So do you think it will be ok to go to there new home
chris31
When you say has worms, do you mean passing worms dead in its poo? If so as above said, it will be what the wormer has taken care of, so hopefully a case of had worms that are now gone. Now sorted should hopefully not affect the new owners at all, we breed golden retrievers and labs and have seen this a few times with the odd litter. We have recently started using a new liquid wormer by drontal which is fantastic stuff. I'd say the pup would be fine to go.
michufc
Yes the worms are dead mate and the pups are not acting different and are full of energy as normal
chris31
Sounds fine then to me!
loriusgarrulus
Did you worm the bitch during pregnancy as she will pass worms on to the pups. If the pups are fine and not over poggy tummies suggesting more worms, I would think they would be ok. The vet will worm them again when they start their vaccs. apache
They should be fine then. Some of the older 'pet shop' wormers will leave as many as 40% of the worms behind.
