  1. Having had plenty of experience with both I'd have to say the 6.5 is the way forward.
  2. .410 is my favourite gun and the one I use 90% of the time! - norica 3 shot and a hushpower mossy. Only just started using eley carts and so far very pleased.
  3. Thanks very Much, think i will take the plunge and get one as chief ratter! Cheers.
  4. Thanks very much for the replies guys.
  5. I saw that program too. He said he had is gun zeroed around 15yards, I'm sure at that range the 22lr would be fine for a fox! But agree it can't be one rule for one and a different rule for another. My own opinion is that although the 22 rimfire will do for a fox, I don't think they are up to the job. But that's just my opinion.
  6. I'm looking at an early model bas lightning with view to buy it, it's the first model, 10inch ish barrel big silencer on it, maxi grip scope rail, etc, are they any good as a mid range hunting rifle, I've heard rumours years ago they were only around 10ft lbs. People's views and opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
  7. I have a pedretti single barrel hushpower 20g and my friend has a mossberg pump 410, using subsonics in the 20 we don't find much difference between the 2. But never had the chance to try a fully mod single 410 but would say it's bound to be quieter. In the right hands the 410 is easily good for 20-25 yards on crows, rabbits etc.... in better hands a bit further!
  8. I think we needed more than luck today! Gave up after 4hours and not a single rabbit. Some good looking holes, keen ferrets, nothing doing though. Can only presume they are all above ground still in undergrowth where we have been today. Better luck next weekend!
  9. Me and my lad are off out ferreting tomorrow , to an area my dad says is over run with rabbits, so knowing my dad we will probably get one!
  10. Have you taken out the pilot jet in the carb? It's a small jet to the side of the main jet, probably about 1cm or so down a recess, these are usually a common cause of trouble.
  11. It goes down a bit past full, suppose you would say extra full, Good for foxing. Again will go a bit past cylinder as well, so pretty good wide range. Off tomoz to see a mossberg bolt 410 with the exact same choke system!
  12. I had a mossberg bolt action 12b a few years back, screw choke was fine but gun kicked like a mule so I sold it, also got a mossberg pump action that is quite old and has the screw choke which is also in perfect working order and very handy for quick changes.
  13. Still well up to the job of dispatching them either way. 6inches or 6 yards, not expecting miracles from one.
  14. Looking at those pics it looks well up to the job.
  15. The nikko scopes that come with mounts are the mountmaster range, these are the budget range and seem fine too, my lad has one. I don't rate the mounts that they come with tho!
