babs2020
hi guys what mag do you set your scopes on for lamping with a hmr 17 and what scopes are you using been told bigger mag scopes are better at night shooting rabbits out to 100 yards i always shoot at night with 3 to 4 mag on a burris 3x9x40
Beardo
i keep it low as it allows quicker target acquisition (x4), then wind up if it further out.
magman
Always on x8 on a MTC viper at night
Alycidon
Usually 7x. Fast target acquisition and a wide field of view is far more important than high mag, it also lets you see the hits given a suitable caliber. A
moorvale55
Keep it as low as possible, better to get the target in sight.
Dead-Eyed Duck
It all depends... As others have said, the smaller the mag the better the field of view and target acquisition (and improved light pick up). If you want to head shoot them at 100 yards then you will possibly need a higher mag (body shooting them with a hmr can produce some spectacular meat damage). It depends if you are simply culling for the numbers, or for the pot. I use a variable Zeiss and tend to leave it on 10 mag as I nearly always use a bipod and head shoot.
