steve_b_wales
After getting my PC back from repair, and having the Operating System installed, I tried to play a DVD (via Windows Media Player) and a message came up saying 'A compatible DVD Decoder is not installed on your computer' How do I install this? Thanks

steve_b_wales
Try this http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/open-the-windows-media-player-dvd-troubleshooter Thanks. I tried it, following the instructions, which were 'Start' - 'Control Panel' - then type 'troubleshooter' in the search box. I can't find the search box? Steve Ignore the "click control panel" part Click START Then you should have a search bar at the bottom of the pop -up Type "toubleshooting" On top left click "view all" Then chose "windows media player dvd" I just tried it on my PC and works as described.... When I click on START, there is no search bar at all. I am still on Window's XP, not sure if that makes a difference?

If you don't have an actual search bar. You should have "Search" as an option, click that Then there should be something like "files and or folders" and then use that search bar to type and continue with above instructions..... This better be a good DVD you're trying to watch
steve_b_wales
Thanks for that. I googled the question 'how do I install the DVD/CD drive for my pc, and one message came up saying 'download the latest Codec files. I did this and it seems to be working now. Thanks to you and everyone else for their help and advice. God Bless PigeonWatch!
