Dougy
Well as its been a wet day and night I thought I would spend a bit of time in my cave and prep some cases. Just neck turned a load of new cases, just got to see now if it improves the groups. Does anyone else neck turn
1066
I do with new brass, just enough to trim off any high spots and make sure they are all as consistent as I can get them. My 6mmbr has a .272 neck so no real need to.
Alycidon
Yes when using a tight or fitted neck on a custom barrel. With a factory chamber then I doubt you will see a major group shrinkage but consistency in neck diameter helps. A
Bewsher500
I have a die that inside neck reams whilst the neck is being sized provides perfect bore to OD concentricity and neck thickness Edited December 19, 2014 by Bewsher500
Dougy
Bewsher, have you got details of the die you're using please ? Not seen anything on my search for the holy grail of accurate reloading lol When the weather improves, and, I'm not working, I'll compare turned and un turned cases, mind you thinking about it the turned are all virgin, not fire formed yet. I will need to sort that out before, looking like new year task. It will check out the group's at 300yds as that will show a greater variance. Alycidon
I have a die that inside neck reams whilst the neck is being sized provides perfect bore to OD concentricity and neck thickness That is preferable to outside turning, guy who built my 20BR turned them on a lathe.
