Fisherman Mike
My son has bought a 1.4 VW Golf 2003 plate , its his first car...its got a few minor cosmetic faults which I can put right and I paid for a full service and MOT plus inspection after we bought it as the dealer was a bit of a Arthur Daly type. For its year and Mileage its actually not in bad nick and runs quite sweetly. However a light has come on the dash which when illuminated says EPC.. Please could tell me what this stands for and what it means... It seems to drive ok and everything works as it should apart from the tailgate lock which is a bit temperamental and will be fixed tomorrow. Thanks as always. Just about to leave for Chepstow so I wont respond until later so please don't think I'm rude. !

longspoon
EPC stands for Electronic Power Control. Possible fault with the throttle body, try a fault code reader, that should point you in the right direction.......hopefully...
HAYBURN
As above.. you should get it connected to a code reader,Most common fault is a brake light switch.can also be throttle pedal.. I think there are two switches inside the switch.one for the brake lights an one for the ecu circuit. get it read by a code reader to put you in the right direction as it can be a list of faults. drut
As above the most common cause of this is brake light switch,it has 4 terminals & links to ecu.Code reader will prove it but done a few, fetches up management light + epc light.
