winnie&bezza
Hi all, been fancying a 20g for a change of scenery and went into chris potters earlier and saw a mcnab highlander that's nice looking, 30" barrels, pistol grip and I knocked it down to £895 so they reserved it for me. So can anyone give me any info on them etc? cheers

winnie&bezza
Cheers wizard. Would you say that's a fair price? It was up for £1075 but he knocked it straight down to £895!
welshwizard
Cheers wizard. Would you say that's a fair price? It was up for £1075 but he knocked it straight down to £895! sounds about right , mine was cased with handbook and I paid £850 , I have shot about 300 - 400 shells through it so far , its 3" chambered but I have not tried any 3" shells due to its weight I stick to 70mm max and lighter loads , no point trying to make it shoot 12 gauge loads but its matter of personal choice I suppose , I have a 20 gauge P/A that I bought about 15-20 years ago and used it for rough shooting on the farm and found it an equal to my 12,s but wanted a gun I could use all round including clays . matone
If it`s a Highlander ,it`ll be made by B .Rizzini.£8-900 seems to be the going rate for them. Well thought out game gun, seem reliable enough too.
winnie&bezza
Oh right fair enough! Good, might have to invest 😃! I've only owned 12s and only fired 2 shots from a 20 and had a pigeon but in your opinion is there any scenario where a 20 really doesn't match up to a 12 or not much in it? ColinF
There's not much in it, unless you need to use non toxic shot. I think that's the only time that the 20 bore is seriously disadvantaged
winnie&bezza
Even better then! The bloke at gunshop said you can use steel shot through it?
HDAV
Even better then! The bloke at gunshop said you can use steel shot through it? As long as it has Fleur de Llys proof marks and appropriate chokes fitted then yes you can use HP steel shells.
ColinF
As long as it has Fleur de Llys proof marks and appropriate chokes fitted then yes you can use HP steel shells. The problem is there are very few HP steel cartridges available. As far as I know, none of the UK cartridge manufacturers make them, just the standard steel
HDAV
But as long as proofed for HP standard is no issue
